You can create and send invoices using PayPal in just a few steps.

Step 1: Open a PayPal account for your business.

A PayPal business account is required if you plan to do more than create and print invoices. It’s free and straightforward to set it up. Go to the PayPal homepage, and click the “Business” tab. This will take you to the PayPal business page.

Step 2: Create an invoicing document

Click that link to open the main invoice page. There are three options at the top: Estimates, Invoices, and Recurring Series. Click on the link “Create an Invoice” on the right-hand corner of the page to create your first business invoice.

Step 3: Input customer information.

Click on “Create Invoice” to enter the information of your customer. This includes the details of the person being invoiced, the amount due, the due date, and any discounts. Shipping costs and taxes are also included. Clickable links will allow you to customize the fields and send the invoices to multiple clients. You can also add a payment option. Customers can choose to make partial payments or set a minimum amount.

You can also add instructions or upload files and attachments to the “More Options” tab.

After you fill in the information for your invoice, save a draft.

Step 4: Preview your invoice.

You can preview the invoice after you have completed it. What your customers will get is what you’ll see.

Step 5: Send your invoice.

You have many options once you’ve viewed your invoice. Edit it, save it as a draft, and send it to yourself by email. You can also create a link to share, print it, or download a PDF that you can mail.

PayPal will send you an invoice and confirm that it was received with a green message at your top screen.
